Reception Services
The CSCHN provides services to all newly arrived Francophone individuals and families who wish to settle in the Hamilton and Niagara regions. Settlement workers provide orientation and information on important settlement issues to help newcomers make informed decisions about life in Canada and their settlement experience. Our Settlement Workers can help with:
- Individual client needs assessment
- Housing support
- Assistance with applying for social assistance
- Assistance with immigration and citizenship inquiries (permanent residency, sponsorship, family reunification)
- Assistance with applying for family and child benefits
- Interpretation services and accompaniment in healthcare and in the community
- Citizenship classes
- Information sessions and workshops on various topics such as (rights and responsibilities, health system, child protection, credit and budgeting, Canadian law and justice, education, etc.)
- Referral to appropriate community resources
- Citizenship preparation and participation courses
