Coaching Boys Into Men Program

Coaching Boys Into Men

Coaching Boys Into Men is an evidence-based program developed by the American organization Futures Without Violence. It is a gender-based violence prevention program for sports environments. The program helps coaches create a positive culture within their teams and is aimed at young athletes aged 11 to 24. There is a basic version of Coaching Boys Into Men and a “Clear” version (Coaching, Leadership, Equity, and Respect) that offers university-level discussions.

In partnership with Interval House of Hamilton, the Hamilton/Niagara Community Health Centre delivers this program in French throughout the province of Ontario. Coaching Boys to Men is a 15- to 20-minute discussion over a 12-week period between coaches and their athletes to develop skills related to healthy masculinity, good mental health, and respectful, non-violent relationships. It is a mentoring and leadership program that promotes respect, healthy relationships, and mental health.

The program works in collaboration with shelters, Action Ontarienne, anti-violence organizations, ethnic associations, high schools, colleges, and universities, as well as community sports clubs.

All French-language schools and community sports clubs that would like to strengthen harmony and a positive culture within their teams are invited to contact us at 905-528-0163, ext. 3204.
